BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ — March10, 2026
On a beautiful spring-like day, members of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6259 visited Autumn Lake Healthcare to remind veterans residing at the facility that their service is remembered, honored, and deeply appreciated.
The visit was part of the Post’s ongoing mission to ensure that no veteran is forgotten. With Irish music playing in the background, residents enjoyed an afternoon outdoors in the sunshine and fresh air. VFW members distributed American flags along with freshly baked goods to those in attendance. Each veteran also received an individual gift bag containing personal care and grooming items. "Our goal is simple, to remind each veteran that their service is remembered, their sacrifices are appreciated, and they are not alone,” said VFW member James Rath.
Post members spent time visiting with residents, sharing conversations, and thanking each veteran personally for their service to the nation.
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6259 in Berkeley Heights actively supports veterans with outreach programs, community events, and visits to local care and VA facilities throughout the year. Its membership includes veterans from Berkeley Heights, New Providence, Long Hill, Gillette, Stirling, Millington, Chatham, Summit, and nearby communities.
